Before I head back to my self imposed exile of exams... a couple of random thoughts have cropped up in my mind....

suppose.... you take two persons, who are of similar intelligence ( I say similar because recent research has shown that its difficult to measure and they r trying to rework the I.Q system I believe) they have the same background (aka same opportunities)..... essentially ceterius paribus..... often you ll still see that one person is very successful and the other one might be mediocre or even a failure.... what made the difference ?

one of the factors as people say could be "luck"(quite popular which I don't accept :P ) it probably comes to choices... this could be with small decisions or even larger view of how they view their decisions......

its back to the books... (finally this hangover is going away.... lol)

A man sees young boy was standing all alone on the beach....picking up one star fish at a time from a big pile of them and throwing it back into the sea....... ( You all know this story I shall fast forward to the end... )

Boy: " It made a difference to that one"

Please go to google earth and click on sudan..... and pass it on to as many people as you can... maybe even do one of those things which I find absolutely revolting and a complete waste of time... whats it called...... aaaaa oh yes FORWARDS !

As I was watching a re-run of one of my favourite show... I was wondering how it would feel to read one of my old creations... (my poems i mean :P ) anyway here's one of them.....

Wise and foolish

fools will cry
fools will die
the wise will lie
the wise man such a fool, my oh my !
the wise say as hard as you try
with you will success lie
foolish regret their mistakes with a sigh
the wise man such a fool, my oh my..............

I did wonder as soon as I clicked "publish".... a morbid fear gripped me whether I had sufficiently substantiated my arguments... therefore before I begin my next post I will just finish off on why I thought a wiki takeover would be a good one.

Despite wikis fame it is not well known that it has acheived credibility (despite all profs tellin u that DO NOT refer wiki ) there are considerable wiki users who strive to make it accurate. It is estimated that any faulty detail is removed within half a minute. (and remember this is not some big brother controlling it... this is you or me saying this is wrong and it should be changed ) Its important to remember the dynamic advantages in this. It only allows and I must emphasize this ONLY allows the stuff you read to be either extremely accurate or to be a shared common perception by a large number of users ( that is worthy of a couple of posts on its own.. so we ll talk about it some other time)

Now that being said if we are able to get academics to contribute this as well as an offshoot from google scholar (which as I mentioned before are pure articles) it would even further enhance the validity of what you or I read on it.

As in the comment mentioned (which by now I have almost forgotten to thank for... and if that sounded like it.. its NOT... lol ) whether its a subset or superset (yes i coined my word BIG DEAL ). One of the interesting thing about the Internet is its ability to destroy hierarchy. Now how would you define a subset... by typing in a world in google it leading you to wiki does that make google the subset because its leading you to a bigger set? Its a interesting question. After some thought I thought a reasonable way of solving this would be a dynamic link between the two rather than one being the bigger of the other. (THE only reason why we have come to think of a google as a "superset" is only its better info processing and NOT because it STORES that info.. though its sheer effiency has made this point murky )

and damn my response has taken up AN ENTIRE POST !... k ppl till next time....

hey everyone...

ok everytime I post a poem it means that I didnt have time to write my blog... lol (WAAAY too much being made of just a poem thats why ;) )

my last to last post I said I would talk a little about cricket ? but i realized that no matter what I say its not going to make much of a difference.... someone rightly said ..... cricket is played by 11 fools and watched by another million ! (besides basketball is my thing anyway... :D)

by the way todays rant will begin at marvelling the collection of blogs that have sprung up...... I just wanted to see which blog would be mine after mine i clicked on "next blog" ... AND i came across one on NAXALS, one in russian (despite my best efforts at trying to read the russian ad... COME ON -the only famous russian thing that I know is an AK-47 ! well that and the toy automatic car that my dad got me from moscow... which I might say even made archies jalopy look like a BENTLEY ! )

anyway before i get carried away... ok being a part academic ( part academic because in my opinion only PHDS and profs count as FULL academic ) I used the google scholar quite extensively.. its quite brilliant actually.... links to ACTUAL articles... but there are major copyright problems there, which I might talk about next time ( if its not in your destiny to suffer one of my poems :P )
BUT
what i wanted to talk about was whether google could take over wikipedia.. think about it for a second... what is google BEST at ? U say search... well thats a little superficial.. dig a little deeper... why did google start maps or why did it buy youtube (or on a rather sad note why has my homepage become google news :P )... its awesome at MANAGING information ! its an information world baby !

like youtube driven by user content.. wikipedia is massively driven by user adapted content ! the best part is it opens LIMITLESS opportunities (k now you will realize why I started with scholar). It would be brilliant if they were able to interface wiki with google scholar.. jesus I am getting even jittery at the thought !

anyways if u have any thoughts on this.. let me know.. cheers

to the departed

For those who have gone
we may not remember you everyday for it would make us feel lone
yet you live on not through your children nor by just your memories
you live on through your deeds
Forever immortalized in our memories
To cherish the moments that we had
Only to find that as we grasp them tighter

Like sand through the hand do they fade away faster

Part - ii

as we ventured into the mid of a forest following a path god knows leading us where... there was an odd sort of comfort. In my head I realized that I could never be as relaxed as then... in a way we didn't give a damn where we were going.. we were all so stressed out.. it was just a relief to hear the noise of a jungle... maybe tigers roaring were indeed FAR better than the cacophony generated by modern (s0me might say wonderful) man made machines.

As i realize i have digressed :P (btw before i continue one last digression for the APPALLING DELAY from my last post )
well we continued and it wouldd be stupid to think that we continued along t he same path and somehow made it without meeting some soul (perhaps casper the friendly ghost maybe :P ) We were pretty thirsty into something like i would say four hrs of biking.... we found an outpost and for a sec i tht at least (don't know about the other two) thought it might be haunted ;)... anyway we went in and we found a guy who was AMAZED that we had made it that far without a guide..

after a quick refill of water... we were on our way... (i think i have forgotten to mention i had the WORST hangover as i had finished off every ones drinks the previous day... yes i know was a drunkard but now i am far better.. HONESTLY... k maybe i am just getting there.. working progress u see ;) ) we reached the summit (we were going uphill) and had a cup of tea at a shack on the main road we had reached.... and then it was time to head home... if u can imagine something like 15 kms downhill ! it was brilliant.. though couldn't enjoy as i had terrible hangover which oddly enough seemed to kick in as the day was beginning to end and NOT the other way round...

anyways till next time.. cheers everyone (oops an abrupt ending... people who know me would say thats how i am anyway.. lol next time new story ! maybe a dip of match fixin and cricket craziness ! )
